CHRISTMAS CHANTING SATSANG LUNCH – SUNDAY, 21 DECEMBER, from 12.30pm

Dear Lovers of Truth,

We welcome you for a special Christmas Gathering on Sunday, 21 December, from 12.30pm.

We will celebrate this special month by coming together and share in meditation, singing and sharing lunch together (please bring a plate of yummies to share).

This will be our Christmas Chanting Gathering which means that we'll have our usual Chanting Satsang and have lunch together. We will start by having lunch which means you can come any time and you'll be on time :-)

from 12.30pm - Lunch
later (around 2.30pm) - Chanting

Remember, this is Deva's definition of Chanting Satsang:
'Satsang, translated from Sanskrit means “Meeting (Sangha) in truth (Sat)” and it can be enjoyed in so many ways. We have found that a one hour silent meditation which includes music and chanting is a blissful door into our own inner sanctuary. The music and chanting help to deepen the silence, no effort is needed, and Satsang happens by itself.'

Do not worry if you think you cannot sing - you're welcome to enjoy the music by listening, if you prefer!

So for this time please bring your cushion and a plate of yummies.

Please confirm your attendance by phone on 9982 2893 or 0405 701 707 and email me if you need any more information: info@reachforthesky.com.au

Chanting Satsang: This Saturday, 26 April, 5pm

Come and chant with us:
This Saturday, 26 April, 5pm (come around 4.44pm)
Please bring a cushion to sit on and musical instruments if you have them.

Please be advised that the chanting session is on Dana base (Dana is a sanskrit word meaning 'generosity' or 'giving') which means you are welcome to donate whatever amount you feel right. Your donation is simply an energy exchange and we'll use it for flowers, candles, tea, biscuits etc.

Read more about Dana in the article below.

Namaste, Tara (Nathalie)

Who is this 'Dana' person?

I've been asked: "What is Dana?" and so I remember a friend of mine offering regular meditation practice in his house. He always had a box on the table labeled 'Dana' with a slot where people put their donation for the night. One day a newcomer said: "I'd like to know who this 'Dana' person is before I give any of my money."
So if you've been wondering who this 'Dana' person is....

Wikipedia defines Dana as:

Dāna (Sanskrit: दान dāna) is a Sanskrit and Pali term meaning "generosity" or "giving". In Buddhism, it also refers to the practice of cultivating generosity. Ultimately, the practice culminates in one of the Perfections (paramitas): the Perfection of Giving (dana-paramita). This can be characterized by unattached and unconditional generosity, giving and letting go.

Giving leads to being reborn in happy states and material wealth. Alternatively, lack of giving leads to unhappy states and poverty.

The exquisite paradox in Buddhism is that the more we give - and the more we give without seeking something in return - the wealthier (in the broadest sense of the word) we will become. By giving we destroy those acquisitive impulses that ultimately lead to further suffering.

The Chanting Satsang we offer is about being together in the 'Buddha field' as Deva says. It is not about making money or receiving something in return. We love you to come and sing with us. The Dana you give is used to make those gatherings what they are - a meeting in Truth, chanting and sharing a cup of tea and some biscuits. All Dana is used for is for the 'ingredients of this meeting' :-)

Deva Premal and Miten - Community

Dear Lovers of the music of Deva Premal and Miten,

I've created a community on Ning (upon request from Deva and Miten) for everyone who likes to join. This is a great way to stay connected to the community of link-minded people, to share Chanting, Satsang or related events with your community. No matter where you live - this is your way to open up opportunities to join in the 'Buddha field' as Deva says.

Please visit: http://devapremalmiten.ning.com/ and join - it's easy, just add your name and a photo and then start using the network. Feel free to join any of the groups or even start your own group, for example in your area.

Feel free to spread the word - everyone is welcome!

All Love, Taralina xox

WELCOME BACK IN 2008

It's been a while... and we're still chanting.
A couple of weeks ago we had the pleasure to re-connect with Deva & Miten on their concert in Sydney - what a beautiful occasion and the athmosphere in the auditorium was beautiful!

Have a look at their photo blog for pictures of the Sydney Concert!
